The Galanthus is best known under the name "Snowdrop" and you can find them in winter and sometimes even as early as December. The Galanthus is not only found in gardens but also in many woods and parks. In the Netherlands, the Galanthus is seen as the messenger of the coming spring. The flowers are bell-shaped and protrude above the last snow.
The Galanthus Nivalis is mostly known by 'the snowdrop'. She is one of the most early bulbous plants in the garden. The first flowers will appear from about January. She grows to 25 cm high and she prefers a shaded place. The snowdrop is a very good naturalizer and they will expand well within a few years.
